The Midland Hills Dinner Club Review is an informal guide to locally owned culinary attractions (no chain restaraunts)in the greater Southern Illinois area. The Review is named for a quiet lakeside community located outside Makanda, Illinois. Restaurants are ranked in price groupings, defined as price per person you might expect for the dining experiance: $ = $15 or less $$ = $15-$30 $$$ = $30 up

There’s not much to tell. I like food. I like to eat and cook, pretty much in that order. I have a prejudice towards independent proprietors in a world of national chain monopolization. I find food one of the most interesting ways to understand cultures beyond your own. I’m fascinated by the variety of regional cuisine in the United States alone, and beyond our shores the variety is mesmerizing and tantalizing. I watch way too much Food Network.
